Here we are on a small blue planet rotating around its own axes: if you’re around the Equator, it spins you with 1600 kms per hour. This rotation is built into our most intimate body cycles: we sleep by night and are (mostly) awake by day. Our planet is also rotating around this medium-size star we call sun, with roughly 110 thousand kilometres per hour. A full circle is a year. The year is also intimately integrated into our cultural life through the new years’ celebration (whenever it is in your culture) and our personal life through facing the anniversary of our birth again and again. And because the planet’s axis of rotation is somewhat tilted the year unfolds into seasons for most of us. The rhythm of the recurring seasons structures our experience. Each year is a journey moving towards more light, then moving towards more darkness and on and on (depending on where you are..). And the consecutive years come to form another type journey: our life. And this life will be packed with rites of passage – culturally or personally invented – to mark or movement from one state of being to another – from child to adolescent, adult, senior etc.. This section invites you to share your experience about the endings of days, seasons, years, phases of your own life. Whatever marked you in a special way, and how.
