Somehow imagining an end to it all helps us give more importance to what is before. How else to explain our evident propensity and creativity in concocting narratives about the end of the world? Wikipedia has started a wonderful collection of past predictions they have more than 200 entries, starting from 66 CE to 2280. To these we can add the series of scientific predictions, projecting us in a future of 300.000 years (gamma ray burst generated by a WR 104 triple star system going supernova ) to the heat death of the universe, expected about a google from now (10to the 100th years). According to a pall done in 2012, 14% of respondents believed the world would end in their lifetime. What do you believe? When will it all end? And how? Is it last judgment, human stupidity or the grand rules of physic operating at cosmological scale? What does it do to you to think about the end of it all?
